Who We Are
We are parents, doctors, CPA’s, psychologists, engineers, professionals and concerned community members who know the system for developmentally disabled individuals is broken. We decided to create a new model of opportunity for the differently-abled. Entrepreneurship is our cornerstone. It is our goal to be free of the government restrictions that separate the differently-abled from their communities and support systems when they seek employment.
About Bakers Treat
The original BAKER’S TREAT WAS FOUNDED IN 1999 by long time Hunterdon County residents, Nancy and Stanley Baron. Nancy Baron was inspired by the late Paul Newman’s charitable donation of profits from his food products, as well as the success of a group of Buddhist Monks in Brooklyn who had taken in the homeless and created a bakery and environment to work in. Stanley Baron, a Sherlock Holmes fan, came up with the name Baker’s Treat as a play on the words “Baker Street”.
